Iron Coder March 2006 has begun

In his infinite wisdom Chairman Rentzsch has chosen Mac OS X’s Accessibility API as the secret ingredient of the contest. The official thread of the March 2006 Iron Coder contest is hosted by Gus Mueller.

For people looking at the Accessiblity API for the first time and wonder “what the f**k do I do with this”, check out Apple’s sample code at /Developer/Examples/Accessibility. More sample code available online here UIElementInspector.dmg

The linked docs are concerned with being a good accessible app. They show you how to let assistive applications manipulate your stuff.

Somehow I'm guessing that entries to this contest will be more concerned with manipulating than with being manipulated.

If you want to know how to _abuse_ the accessibility API (er, use? right, use) start with http://developer.apple.com/releasenotes/Accessibility/AssistiveAPI.html .
