Stump the Experts

June 9th, 2005 · Comments · Default

I won my first prize at WWDC’s stump the experts. In fact I won two points for the audience and double prizes for knowing “when to shut up after giving a right answer”.

Of course, in a classic example of “it’s not what you know but who you know” I have to give the credit for embedded genius Chris Reed for providing the answer to the question and for dealing with a mad guy on the phone yelling “Chris it’s Jon, how many bits does the iPod shuffle processor have?” completely out of the blue. 1/2 the prizes go to Chris.

Awesome.

Oh and I turned the World of Warcraft 1 year subscription DOWN! Take me outside and shoot me now…

    Welcome to the club.

I won my first stump prize last year (and I'm disappointed I didn't get to go to WWDC this year)

It was a similar deal - I had the right answer, (McIntosh Laboratories had a mention in the first Macintosh users guide) and the rest of the audience thought I was wrong. (The audiance thought it was Apple Corps.) So I also knew when to shut up after giving a right answer. :)

The best part? It was towards the end of the night, so they just piled on the prizes (i got like 3 shirts, a USB dev kit, a PowerBook screen protector thing that I promptly lost the next day, and a certificate for 2 licenses of SubEthaEdit. :D the SEE thing was the *ONLY* thing used for more than a day. ;)
